Local 490 belongs to the IATSE International Health and Welfare Fund. It is currently set up with each union job you work on, your employer, (not you), will put a certain agreed upon amount of money, per the contract, into your plan. It is a daily contribution for each day you work. For example, if you are working on a movie, your employer will put an agreed upon amount into this fund, referred to as "P & W", (pension and welfare). The same is applicable for commercials that are negotiated and worked under a union contract. Once you qualify for coverage under this plan, with a contribution by your employer of $100 or more, you will be able to pick which plan works best for you. Per our By-Laws, the employer contribution is set up for 75% of each contribution going to the health plan and 25% of each contribution going into the pension plan or annuity fund.
